Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time. Founded in 1915, Kiwanis has nearly 600,000 members of all ages in 15,000 clubs that can be found in 80 nations and geographic areas. The Kiwanis Club of Athens was established on March 11, 1920.
Athens Kiwanis Club members are service-minded members of our community. We invite prospective members to attend meetings as our guests. New members are approved by our board of directors.
The Kiwanis Club of Athens meets each Tuesday in a private dining room at Talmage Terrace/Lanier Gardens. Members begin gathering for a buffet lunch between 11:30 and 11:45 a.m. Meetings begin at noon and end by 1 p.m. There are no attendance requirements, but active participation is encouraged.
Each member is asked to contribute dues to support our local, state and international Kiwanis organizations. The Kiwanis Club of Athens has recently adopted a flexible structure to accommodate those who find it difficult to attend all of our weekly meetings. Now, members may pay for only those lunches they actually eat and our local, state and national dues are charged separately, rather than being wrapped into an all-inclusive fee.
